US News May 2025 - Are "Tariffs the New Covid"? | The Role of Judges in Deomcracy
Tariffs, like COVID, are spreading like a deadly disease, and we will all die of hunger. Nothing has changed—fear is still the weapon of choice for any opposing party, including all ranks from economists, philosophers, coaches, consultants, experts and lawyers. In the end, probably no one is right or wrong; it will end up somewhere in the middle. So far, the judgment is out. Have you seen some scenarios from the “experts” in the media? Here is a take at it —it will all be ok. If you want an opinion from a communist , here you have it, not my judgement.
Does the name Brzezinski ring a bell? There’s some legacy at MSNBC , but the war mongers still live off the legacy of Zbigniew, the author of and the architect of the “Peace through Military actions” rather than diplomacy, so the legacy is more destruction than relations. Like, the Cold War is over—let’s cooperate. No, forget them, we won , and the NATO expansion began? Brzezinski is often compared to his contemporary and rival, Henry Kissinger. They were both European émigrés with thick accents and shared a professional path of star-academic-turned-national-security-advisor. But the two approached U.S. strategy from completely different perspectives. Kissinger, a German-born scholar of old-world European diplomacy, held a pessimistic view of the trajectory of the United States and inflated view of the USSR, seeking a balance of power between them through detente. Brzezinski, a scholar of the ideological and political weaknesses of the Soviet Union, bore a grudge against Moscow for the enslavement of Eastern Europe and had inherent confidence that the United States would prevail in the Cold War.
Are judges part of democracy or the TDS movement? Sometimes you wonder why a Trump hater—do not call them critics—is assigned cases, especially on topics like DOGE or immigration. Here’s what happens when you hide illegal immigrants : U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman, 85, was randomly assigned to preside over the jury trial of Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan, who was indicted earlier this month for allegedly shielding an illegal immigrant from ICE in her courtroom. Adelman, a former Democratic lawmaker and outspoken judge, faces mounting criticism and scrutiny of his record as he handles the high-profile case. And have you ever heard of the Institute of Peace , and the DOGE effort to close it? "By design, USIP was established by the two political branches to advance a safer, more peaceful world with the specific tasks of conducting research, providing training on peacemaking techniques, and promoting peaceful conflict resolution abroad -- without formally involving the U.S. government in foreign disputes," Howell wrote in a 102-page memorandum opinion . It does not bode well with this judge. Ask a simple question: is the world a safer place? Nope, and perhaps neo-cons are still hiding in plain sight , and may even have the support of judges. The Institute of Peace also turned into a highly convenient place to stash under-employed and—as they thought—under-appreciated Reaganite thinkers. The original board of directors (15 of them!) included once familiar names such as Father Richard John Neuhaus, W. Scott Thompson, Evron Kirkpatrick (husband of Jeane), and so on. The names may mean nothing to you, but anyone around during the 80s will recognize something immediately: these were neoconservatives. And that was an odd development. The characteristic that distinguished neoconservatives from plain old conservatives back then was a greater willingness—if not eagerness—to solve the world’s problems by force. The Institute of Peace, if it stands for anything, must stand for the notion that international disputes can be settled without war. This is the same judge who ruled that law firms are fair game to offer their services for political actions, defending the money laundering law firm for payment of the Russian Dossier. The mother of all this, democracy forward , straight out of Alinsky’s playbook , into the hands of judges and lawyers.
Could it be that President Trump read some Leo Tolstoi , and you wonder if Drag Queens would have a problem reading some stories of love to the kids they so admire. It would certainly make Leo proud, for the reading part, "Don't fight evil with evil".
The cheaters are Wall Street and the Democrats' friends, with the media (liberal) cheering for the failure of negotiations—dumbest idea ever? It sounds a bit sarcastic, but most likely true, and the elites are all okay with it; they do not want a strong middle class and people standing on their own feet. Does this sound like your favorite trading partner? China has also expanded its use of gray zone trade tactics by employing transshipment, committing document fraud, practicing under-invoicing, and utilizing overseas assembly. Chinese exporters are routing goods through Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and even the European Union, where products are repackaged or relabeled to obscure their origin. In April, China’s overall exports rose by 8 percent year-over-year, even as direct exports to the United States fell by 21 percent, which is clear evidence of successful rerouting. Here’s an interesting read as a comparison from an AP reporter—one an interview with Biden, the other a report on Trump’s trip to the Middle East. War versus negotiations —to succeed, do you need an army or people of success?
